Young Nevada Artists Are Invited to Showcase Their Creativity for a Chance to Be Featured in the 2027 Happy Times Calendar
(LAS VEGAS, NV) – August 17, 2026 — The Silver State Schools Credit Union’s (SSSCU) People Over Profit (POP) Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the 41st Annual Happy Times Calendar Artwork Contest Call for Artwork, inviting Kindergarten through 12th-grade students across Southern Nevada to submit original artwork for inclusion in the beloved community calendar
For more than four decades, the Happy Times Calendar has celebrated the artistic talents of local students while inspiring creativity throughout the community. Each year, thousands of families, educators, and community members enjoy the colorful collection of student artwork featured throughout the calendar.
Beginning Monday, August 17, 2026, students are encouraged to submit their original artwork through Friday, October 9, 2026. Following the submission period, employee volunteers and executive leadership from SSSCU will carefully review thousands of entries to select 13 winning pieces of artwork, representing one winner from each grade level, Kindergarten through Grade 12.
The winning artwork will be professionally reproduced in the 2027 Happy Times Calendar, with 7,000 calendars distributed throughout SSSCU branches. Winning students and their school will also receive a cash award of $250.00 dollars and special recognition during the 41st Annual Happy Times Calendar Awards Ceremony on Monday, December 14, 2026, where their original artwork will be professionally framed and presented.

Contest Timeline
August 17 – October 9, 2026: Artwork submission period
October 10 – October 22: Judging and winner selection
October 23: Winners notified
December 7: Printed calendars arrive
December 14: Happy Times Calendar Awards Ceremony
Students should create original, hand-drawn artwork using traditional art media. Contest rules, submission guidelines, and entry forms are available through participating schools and on the People Over Profit Foundation website.
The Happy Times Calendar has become a cherished tradition throughout Southern Nevada, highlighting the importance of arts education while recognizing outstanding student achievement.
